Beloved Purgatory

Sometimes God has a good reason for breaking your heart. Devi always feared God took her brother because there was something horrible about her. She’s about to find out she was right.

  1. Hello,

I just finished your first book After Eden and I have been checking your site every day since then to see when your newest book will be out. I read other comments saying November, do you have a date yet?

    • Hey Ashly! I don’t have a set date, but it should be available in late November. I will make a post on my blog when I upload it to Amazon/Smashwords/B&N, and when the book shows up on those sites I will make another blog post (with links) and also send out an announcement on my newsletter, twitter, and facebook. Thank you for stopping by 🙂

  2. Hi.
I really enjoyed After Eden, it’s an amazing story! i’m constantly checking to see if the new book has been released but sadly not! Do you know when it will be out?
I like writing myself, I’m now editing my own book. Sadly not a fiction that I’ve always dreamt about writing, but a self help sort of book! But struggle finding the time to write myself!
Really looking forward to your next book!

    • Hey Sam. The second book is going to be out REALLY soon. It’s been written and edited. Right now, I’m just waiting for my proofreaders to get back to me, and as soon as they do I’ll make the necessary changes and put the book up. I’m really glad you liked After Eden and hope you like the second book too.

Good luck on your self-help book! I agree that it is hard to find time to write, but it’s certainly worth it. It just feels wonderful to finish writing something that you’ve been thinking about for a long time.

Thank you for your kind words and for stopping by.

    • Hey Aivead. I’m so sorry it’s taking longer than expected! The good news is that book 2 has been written and edited. Once I hear back from my proofreaders and make the necessary changes, I will publish it. Also, the day the book is available on Amazon, I will send an email out to my mailing list and announce it on my blog.

    • Hey Ella. I’m so glad you liked After Eden. Book 2 will be out really soon! It’s already been written and edited, and right now I’m just waiting to hear back from the proof editors. I don’t know if I will make the November deadline, but it will be out in early December for sure.

  3. I have been stalking the website as well. I love your fresh take on how a heroine behaves and speaks. The relationships feel thoughtful, real and a little quirky. Well done! I am looking forward to the rest of your books. I know I am not the writer ;), but I would kill to read a little older leaning book of yours.

    • Hey Robbi! I’m sorry this is getting to you late. WordPress ate my last comment (or maybe I was a dork and hit “cancel” instead of “send”). Anyways, I’m really glad you liked Devi. Your comments are especially nice to hear, since I tried to make her sound as realistic as possible. I hope you like book two as well 🙂

As for books for an older audience…well, I have a few ideas, but unfortunately they are probably going to have to wait until the fallen angels series is over.

      Thank you for stopping by!

  4. Hey Katherine,

I bought After Eden on a whim a month or so ago, having run out of books and gotten sick of the amateur writing of most fan fics. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I think it’s important to give feedback for work and give praise when praise is due.
Your writing style is brilliant, you pull of an effortless prose filled with comedy, enticing characters, excellently presented mystery and emotion that leaks from the pages (or rather computer screen, I wish I had this in book form) into the reader’s heart. I did not expect to be so impressed by a Kindle book, in all honesty (having always been against electronic books as I love the feel of a book beneath my hands and the smell of fresh printed pages) I was expecting something that was only available on electronically to be just like a fan fiction. It could not have been further from it. Wow. Not often am I wowed by books, when you’ve read so much in the genre things become very predictable and it’s much harder to find a great read. And what a great read After Eden was. I think what strikes me most is your unique view of how the story unfolds, how your present it and how your characters interact and develop. You don’t fall into the same genre stereotype traps alot of authors do, which is refreshing!
I’m gushing, which is unlike me. But I can’t help it. You’re a brilliant author and I want you to have confidence in your writing and believe in yourself, because you have serious talent. So don’t forget it!
I can’t wait for the next book to go up, I sorely miss the characters and their interaction, and I’m dying to know where this goes and how the story mounts higher still. I can’t wait to see how her relationship with the angel develops. So please upload it soon!

ps. I also love the pancake quirk…because it’s my fav food!

    • Hey Alex,

I want to thank you for your kind words and thoughtful critique of “After Eden.” I am always looking for honest feedback on my writing (good or bad), so I truly value your comments and appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts with me.

I’m also really happy that you enjoyed the first book in the series. “After Eden” is one of the “books of my heart.” It’s a bit quirky, so it was difficult for me to imagine it being published by a publisher, but I wrote it anyway because I loved the story and believed in it. So I guess my second “thank you” is for taking a chance on an indie author 🙂

I’m also glad you’re also interested in how Devi and Camael’s relationship develops. That’s something I’ve been looking forward to writing since book 1, since Cammy is one of my favorite characters in the books, so I hope people like him! I did try to raise the stakes in book 2, and I hope it lives up to everyone’s expectations.

And LOL about the pancakes. I love them too, and as it turns out the “pancake scenes” were some of the funnest to write.

      Have a wonderful New Year!

  5. I feel like a website stalker but is it out yet? I’ve checked barnes and nobles, good reads and amazon and can’t find it. Honestly can’t wait to see waht happens next, I just finished reading After Ededn about 5 minutes ago and have checked everywhere!

    • Hi Savannah. I’m glad you liked the first book so much! I just uploaded Beloved Purgatory a few days ago, and it’s already available on Amazon and Smashwords (unfortunately it’s taking a longer to show up on B&N). I’m so sorry about this delay. I’ll be making a new blog entry once it is available on B&N. If you want to read it sooner, you can check out Smashwords (it also sells the book in epub format) or send me an email and we’ll work something out 🙂 (katherinepineauthor (at) gmail (dot) com)

  6. Hey I’m Drew a twelve year old girl and I’ve read After Eden (twice). I love how you take the story in a unique twist by make the angel bad and the demon good. Not many books I’ve read (which is a lot of books) have that sort of take and I love it!!!!!! Just keep writing. Take your time on the second book. It would be a shame if it wasn’t as good as the first one.

    • Thank you Drew! I did take my time (lol) and I really hope that it paid off and readers like it. I’m glad you liked the new take on angels and demons. I tried to push that even further in book 2 🙂 Anyways, thank you so much for stopping by and your encouraging comments! I hope that ‘Beloved Purgatory’ lives up to your expectations. Happy Reading, Katherine

    Well, Beloved Purgatory.

    OH MY OZ!

Haha. I have to say Devi’s fate will definitely be down a twisted path now. I read After Eden a few weeks ago and then when I saw the second book was out, I jumped on the chance to get it. I loved it! I read it in like 12 hours (minus sleeping time).

It’s so cute and sweet at points that I actually laugh aloud. And then when things turn darker I read faster trying to find the outcome.

    • Hey Sophie! I’m so sorry this response is getting to you so late.

I’m really glad you enjoyed Beloved Purgatory. Yes, Devi’s life just got a lot harder, and she’s going to have to face some pretty big stuff in the next book. I’m glad you thought parts of it were funny. I actually laughed quite a bit while I was writing it!

Thank you for stopping by, and for your thoughtful and encouraging comments 🙂

  8. Wow!!! I just finished reading Beloved Purgatory and I absolutely loved it Again I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t put it down until I had finished it. Oz was even amazing, which I was not sure was possible, but it was. I am really excited for the next book even though I am sure it will take a little while for it to come out.

    • Hey Kelli. I am so glad that you enjoyed Beloved Purgatory (and Oz)! I’m working on the next book now, and while I don’t have a release date yet, I’m really looking forward to getting it out. Thank you for stopping by 🙂

  9. Hey Katherine, I finished ‘After Eden’ and ‘Beloved Purgatory’ and I was really wondering when you plan on publishing your third book. I was hoping you’d have a goal or something, because I am super excited to read it!

    • Hey Rachel. I’m working on the third book right now. I’m really excited about it, and want to share it with others ASAP 🙂 Unfortunately, I’m not sure when it will be done. However, I’ve never written and edited a book in under six months before, so my guess is that it will take at least six months.

  10. hey Katherine,

I Loved your first book, and I have been waiting for the second book to come out on itunes, but it is still not there? I just wanted to let you know that, and I was wondering if it will be available on itunes at all.

    • Hi Mackenzie. I’m so glad you liked the first book! The second book will be available on iTunes eventually. I’ve submitted the book and it has been approved for distribution to the iTunes store, but I have no control over how long it takes Apple to actually make it available in their bookstore (and unfortunately, they can take a long time–I think After Eden showed up on iTunes about a month and a half after I published it on the other sites). I’m sorry it’s not there yet.

  11. hey katherine i know you just released beloved purgatory but do you know when the third book is coming out? i know i know, im being greedy but i love the fallen angels series. i read both the books in one day and then i have to wait forever now! i dont want to forget this series but i dont know how long it will stay in mind! please reply soon or give me a hint at what might happen! are you even writing right now?

    • Hi Mikayla! I’m so glad you’re liking the series so far! Book 3 will be coming out this year. The earliest it would be out would be this summer, and I’m shooting for at least a fall release date. I don’t know for sure when it will be done, but I am working on the book right now and going as fast as I can. I’m actually a really greedy reader myself, and HATE waiting for books in a series I like to come out, so I completely understand where you’re coming from 🙂 I will send an announcement to those who have signed up for my new release list when the book is out (as well as mentioning it on my blog/facebook/twitter/etc). Thank you so much for stopping by, and I will try not to make you wait too long! -Katherine

      • Thank you so much! Finally someone who understands me! 🙂 well i will let you get back to writing then! Thank you so much for everything! You are utterly amazing. Have a terrific rest of the week! I will keep coming back for updates! Bye!

  12. I haven’t read the first book but it seems good by the cover but I don’t have a kindle and I wanted to know if you are going to make it an actual book like I can buy without having to get a kindle!

  13. Hi Katherine! I wanted to let you know that I love your books! I discovered “After Eden” last week on amazon’s website when I was looking for something new to download onto my Kindle. I was a little iffy about getting it bout after reading a few reviews and also looking at the amazing cover I decided to give it a chance! I’m so glad I did! Your books are refreshingly unique. It wasnt what I expected and that’s a good thing. I finished the first book in no time! I craved for the second book as soon as I was finished with the first. In fact I perchused it before i finished. Now that I’m done with the second Im craving for more! I love all the twist and turns and how unprodictable it all is… just when you think you figured it out you throw a twist in there and i love that! Now I’m trying my best to picture these charectors in my mind. Other authors I’ve read have book trailer or have fans that create their own versions of what they think your charectors should look like. Will you have anything like that? i would strongly recommend it 🙂 Keep up the awesome work! Thank you for your talent and gift

    • Hey Kinlan. A trailer is a really good idea. I’ve seen some that are absolutely amazing. I am currently so busy with writing and trying to figure out how to format paperback editions of my books that I don’t know if I will get a trailer done anytime soon 😦 It is something I’ve been thinking about, though. As far as fan art, to my knowledge no one has create fan art for the fallen angels series! They are certainly welcome to, though. I’d love to see what fans think Camael and Oz look like 🙂

I’m so glad that you took a chance on the book and liked it! Thank you for telling me and for your thoughtful note. I’m trying to get the third one out as soon as possible!

  14. I have to say, I’ve read a lot of YA fiction, huge mortal instruments fan, but no other book has actually had me smiling and laughing out loud at the dialogue between characters! I’M IN LOVE! I read both books so quick, your writing style did not skip a beat, everything flowed amazingly and I cannot wait for the next book! I have one question though, is this going to be a trilogy? or continue on? I would hate for this to end so soon, you’ve created such amazing characters and you have made me feel for all of them, even the evil ones! thanks for a great new series Katherine!

    • Hey Mad! I have four books planned in the series. I don’t want to say goodbye to the characters either. I’m working on book 3 right now, and sometimes I start to get a little sad when I realize that there’s only one more book left! As far as other books, oh man, I have many more ideas that I’m excited about writing. Everyone will get sick of me before I quit, lol. I’m so glad that you’ve enjoyed the series so far! Thank you for stopping by 🙂

  15. This series is so unique and a refreshing escape from all the vampires that have taken over the books. When will the third one be out?

  16. Hi iamb just wondering what the Jame of the third book is and when will it be released because I keep on reading those books over and over again and still drull

    • Hey Sabrina. I do have an idea for a name, but it isn’t official yet so I am a little hesitant to share it. My goal is to get the third book out this fall (2012). I’m so glad that you’re enjoying the books so far! Thank you for stopping by 🙂

  17. Hey its me again! I wrote about a month and a half ago, little less or more. I just wanted to check in on how the third book is coming along. I don’t know if I can wait till fall… thats a long time for me. Like i said before I’m very greedy and impatient when it comes to books. Especially ones I’m in love with *hint* *hint*. Don’t fret though, I can wait a … little longer. Well get to work and make a beautiful piece of literature! 🙂

    • Hey Mikayla! Thank you for stopping by again. Unfortunately my goal is still to get it out by this fall 😦 The book is coming along really well, though, and I can’t wait to release it! Still, I know how you feel. I think I said this last time, but I’m actually really impatient while waiting for books in a series that I like (there are a couple of series that I’m reading right now where the wait is killing me to the point where I wish the authors would release their first draft even though I know how atrocious first drafts are!) Thank you so much for your patience, though. I’m definitely writing as fast as I can.

      • Alright 🙂 Thank you for the closure. I hope everything goes as planned with everything in your life. ( don’t take that in a creepy way) Thank you again and keep writing these amazing books. Don’t ever let any review, post, or person bring you down from doing something you love! Good luck with everything and I’m looking forward to more of your books!:)

  18. Hey Katherine,
I am a huge fane of your books, I love your series. I could not put the book down, if I didn’t have school im pretty shure I would have pollished it off in one day. I love Oz so much, he is such a sweet and dependable guy which is very hard to find, I love the romance between Devi and Oz, their love is strong and they have made it so far. The series is so unique, because usually when you have a supernatural being , the first thing that comes to your mind is …. VAMPIRE. But no, this is demons that are really dragons and all this other cool stuff. Anyway, the point is, you are a very tallented auther and I am really looking forward to the third book, I cant wait to find out what happends betweens next Devi and Oz, and if their love is enough for what comes next.

  19. hi i’m lexi and i love ur books when do would u say the 3rd will be out your a great writer and and inspiration to all apireing writers including me thank you and all the best

  20. Hey Katherine,
I purchest Beloved Purgatory a week after it came out, and finished it like 2 days after. I really loved the book, OZ made me laugh on a few parts and made my heart pound, which is why I love him so much and any girl would be lucky to have him (sigh). Anyway, I have to be honest, I got so fustrated with Devi that i wanted to rip my hair out of my roots and stream on the top of my lungs, and I also think she should stop being so scared and just take a chance, because if they really are soul mates, their souls or spearits would find each other and be together in this life or the next, because as strong as their love is it can do anything they want. But thats what I think. Anyway im sorry im going on and on, but I just had to get that out. I think you are doing an outstanding job, and I cant wait for the third book, im sooo excited. And I also wish you luck 😉

    • Thank you so much for stopping by Kathryn! You’re not the only one annoyed with Devi, lol. She is still learning to trust herself and find her own strength. I am so happy you’re enjoying the series so far, though! Thank you for sharing your opinion on the series. I hope you like book three too 🙂

  21. hey katherine! My name is mikayla and if you look from older posts, I’m that girl that is all too greedy for your books! Still am though! I’m all too eager to hear what you have in store for the third book? I was just curious as to why there was such a delay, but if it is your real real personal business than I get it. 2012 was a very tough year for me beyond compare too! Well best of wishes and I hope all is well! Please publish soon! 🙂
